OFSTED

Ofsted

We recently received a visit from OFSTED on the 29th and 30th January 2025, we were delighted to see the outcome of:

St Helen’s Church of England Primary School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection.

Please see below the report. There are some lovely phrases in the report that encapsulates all the great things that happen daily in our school. Some of the quotes include:

St Helen’s is a happy and friendly school. Pupils form positive relationships with each other and staff. This helps them to enjoy school.

The school has ambitions for its pupils to ‘fly high’. Typically, these are realised but the school is ambitious for pupils to learn even more.

The school has a calm and purposeful atmosphere. In lessons, pupils behave well.

Sport has a high profile.

Pupils learn a broad and ambitious curriculum starting in the Reception Year. It outlines clearly the knowledge that pupils should know. This means that teachers know precisely what to teach.

We could go on quoting the great things that were said. Please click the link below to read the report.

St Helens CofE OFSTED Report January 29th / 30th 2025

We have been left with a couple of small things to try and improve and develop further around task design and adaptations for a few children with cognition and learning needs, but as always we will try to be Flying High in all that we do.

St Helen’s was inspected by OFSTED in December 2019 and judged to be ‘Outstanding’.

You can find the report from the inspector and a letter to parents from Mr Spens and Mr Chappell below.

Inspector Report

Letter to Parents

‘Pupils are well-rounded individuals and are remarkably well prepared for secondary school.’

‘The school is a nurturing and caring environment. Pupils’ behaviour is impeccable. Pupils are keen to do well. They say they love their school.’

'Teachers provide pupils with the opportunity to understand their place in the wider world. An example of this work are the visits pupils make to the local care home to practise art with elderly residents. Pupils are proud that they are able to make a difference to the world around them. They are extremely happy and say they love their school.’
